What is Hapkido?

Kwon Moo Hapkido is a practice of very effective fighting techniques using whole-body power, precision, and speed. The Kwon Moo style is an arrangement of traditional Hapkido techniques, adapted specifically for American fighting styles, with emphasis on the "combat-trained hand".

Because Hapkido does not rely on the fighter's brute strength, Hapkido is an effective fighting tool for people of all body types and age ranges. The trained hand is a powerful tool that can block, deflect, grab, hit, jab, twist and break an opponent's limbs when used effectively, even on attackers much larger and stronger than ourselves.

Hapkido is also a great way to help reduce stress, improve overall physical health and wellness, improve self-esteem, protect yourself and your loved ones, and gain a sense of community inclusion. Our community culture is welcoming, supportive, safety conscious, and full of energy and excitement to grow and learn.

Our school is a safe space. We welcome all students regardless of age, culture backgrounds, gender identifications, body types, previous martial arts trainings, and any other characteristics that make us our unique and wonderful selves. Bullying, discriminating, and other disrespectful behavior is not tolerated here.

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

— Bruce Lee
